RIENZI Synthesis

Die Freiheit Rom's sei das Gesetz! ["The freedom of Rome should be law!"]
Rienzi addresses a large gathering of Romans declaring that now they are free, free of the patricians hold on their civil liberties, with laws to protect them from common thieves, riots, and from the wanton attacks of raiding bands. He entreats them to keep and guard the new laws. The glory of Rome they vow to preserve.
